Ogwen Cottage Outdoor Pursuits Centre is situated in the very
heart of the mountains of Snowdonia, one of Britain's most beautiful National Parks.
Lofty peaks, lakes and rivers abound; a superb environment for learning in the outdoors.
This is where the experienced Centre staff conduct their activity sessions.
The Centre is owned by Birmingham City Council's Education
Department and is committed to providing the very best courses for young people from the
City of Birmingham. Over 75% of the City's secondary schools use the Centre and annual
occupancy levels are in excess of 90%.

Mission Statement
The primary function of Ogwen Cottage Outdoor Pursuits Centre is to further enhance the educational
curriculum, for schoolchildren of secondary age, within the Birmingham City Council Education Department
provision.
It is the intention of this establishment, by way of its active residential situation, to raise the level of
each student's environmental, physical, personal and social awareness, through participation in outdoor
activities and adventure.
Every effort will be made to ensure that this resourse continues to flourish within the present market and
the current trends in education.
Ogwen is a social outdoor Centre using the mountain and water based environment as a vehicle to promote
self-awareness, group co-operation and citizenship through its adventure activities. Ogwen provides a
comprehensive programme in the more adventurous and water based pursuits. A certain amount of physical
maturity is required to cope with the rigours of a course. It is recommended that students be year 9 upwards
as the physical aspects of the programme can be demanding.
